Nicosia, also known as Lefkosia (Greek: Λευκωσία, Turkish: Lefkoşa). Nicosia is the capital of the Republic of Cyprus and the largest city on the island. Since the Turkish Invasion in 1974 the northern part (Disputed breakaway region recognized only by Turkey and internationaly considered as occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus.) of Nicosia functions as the capital of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
